Fatima Hortence is a FINCA Village Banking client in the busy market area of Messina in Kinshasa
“My name is Fatima Hortence and I am member of the Finca’s Village Banking group
in Messina, a busy area of Kinshasa. I started with a $50 loan back in 2003 and I am now
paying back an $800 loan. Working with FINCA gave me the chance to start my own
business and become self sufficient. For example I can rent a good home for my family
and provide education for my children. My husband is dead so I am solely responsible.
I have two stalls in the main market selling African batik fabrics as well as bed sheets and cloth from Europe and China, I am also wholesaling the materials as well to other merchants. The FINCA loans have given me freedom’.
